Jeff Gedbaw earned his undergraduate degree from the University of Nebraska-Omaha, and then attended law school at the University of Nebraska. Following graduation, he was eager to begin work as a defense lawyer. As part of the Missouri State Public Defender system, Jeff defended hundreds of clients against a wide variety of charges, from theft to arson to murder. It was during this time that he honed his skills as both a litigator and a negotiator, developing a reputation as a strong advocate for his clients’ constitutional rights. He later became the supervisor for a group of defense attorneys in the Kansas City Trial Office, while also continuing his own work as a defense lawyer. 

 

With a few years of experience under his belt, Jeff wanted to try his hand at Federal cases. After obtaining a position with the Jacksonville Federal Public Defender’s Office in Florida, he began handling highly complex federal criminal cases.  The litigation, negotiation and trial skills he learned as a state public defender served him well in the federal system, which can be brutal towards defendants. As always, Jeff fought to protect the rights of his clients, who were facing a wide variety of Federal charges.

 

Since returning to Kansas City and opening his own law practice, Jeff Gedbaw has broadened his scope to include a wide variety of legal cases, while still working as a defense lawyer. His legal philosophy as a client-centered firm means he and his staff will take the time to listen to you and get to know you and the facts of your case.
